Kyle was probably my easiest pregnancy and delivery, making his appearance in my world, after just about 2 hours of labor. He weighed in at a healthy 9lb 5oz, and the first thing I remember him doing was reaching up and grabbing the nurse by the stethoscope as she tried to listen to his heart beat!
Kyle was into everything from the minute he became mobile! There were no cabinets, he could not scale, no locks he could not reach. He was the reason I had so many layers of safety precautions put in place to keep the kids from gaining access to the pool! I had a regular dead bolt lock, a high dead bolt lock, a door alarm, an alarm that would sound if they walked outside of the door, locks on the pool gate, and a last ditch alarm if the surface of the water was broken. All of this, and I at that time was teaching infant swimming lessons! He still managed to break all barriers and fall in the pool one day while I was in the yard. Thankfully, my training had stuck, and by the time I ran in to grab him, he had rolled over on his back and floated to the ladder. I also remember the time I was fully dressed, in a white suit, holding a business meeting by the pool when he snuck up behind me, and pushed me in. With that mischievous little grin, it was very hard to ever get mad at him!
Football was Kyle’s passion from the time he was about five. I remember all the days spent at the Boys and Girls Club watching him and Brian play. Fun times watching those little guys:) He played at The Boys and Girls Club until he was old enough to play in high school, and then also his last two years at UF. He spent his first two years at UF as a Decathlete . It was so much fun watching him play in both sports.
Hunting was also a sport that he loved. I remember one year in high school, when all he wanted was for me to go hunting with him at a game preserve for Christmas. None of the females in our family were particularly fond of hunting, so I think he was hoping that this would convince me. We all liked shooting, I just had trouble killing things. Well, I granted his wish, and we actually had a great time together. We each shot a hog, mine was bigger:) and spent a very special weekend together. I have gone with him on a couple Turkey hunts since then, but I have a really hard time keeping quiet:)
As Kyle finished up his college career, he became more and more interested in Physical fitness, and nutrition. His major was Sports Management, and from there he took the knowledge he had gained from his years of competing in sports, and combined it with his degree, and many advanced certifications to develop his own Personal Training business. He has done very well with his business, and loves helping other people achieve their personal health goals.
Kyle has a heart of gold, and although not everyone sees it, I have seen him go way out of his way to do things like rescue the baby finches that are forever ending up on the floor of his gym. He was also always a child that would stand up to anyone being bullied in school. I saw him do this in Kindergarten for a little girl that was being made fun of because of her weight, and knew at that time, how special a man he would turn out to be!
Today, Kyle is married to a wonderful woman, and together, they have an adorable baby boy, Hunter. Katie is everything I ever could have wanted for him in a wife, warm, loving, smart, beautiful. They share in everything they do together equally, and I love that! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for these two!
